The College of Engineering supplemental printing allocation is now set for the Fall 2014 term. In addition, ITS is introducing changes to the campus printing environment. The end result is that students will notice some changes and new features when they use the printers in CAEN’s student computer labs and in ITS Sites labs.
CAEN installed 281 new HP Z230 computers into several CAEN labs before the start of the Fall term. The new computers have been installed into the following CAEN labs:

CAEN has made improvements to the tool that shows how many currently in-use computers are in the CAEN computer labs. This will help you find where there the available computers to use. CAEN has received a limited number of one-year licenses for the SolidWorks 2014 Student Edition. These licenses are only available for Microsoft Windows operating systems. The license will expire either one year after activation or on December 31, 2015, whichever comes first. Students must be in the College of Engineering, and enrolled in U-M Continue Reading »
The CAEN Lab Software Environment (CLSE) will be updated this summer in preparation for Fall 2014. Two software editions will be deployed to the CAEN computers beginning July 21: a “Student Instructional Edition” for students completing coursework, and a “Student Research Edition” for students performing non-commercial research. On June 19, COMSOL will give a free multiphysics modeling workshop at the University of Michigan, sponsored by CAEN. This extended workshop begins with a walk-through of the fundamental modeling steps in COMSOL Multiphysics, followed by a specialized session focusing on chemical engineering applications. CAEN is sponsoring a compressed LabVIEW Core 1 and Core 2 training, including an attempt to pass the Certified LabVIEW Associate Developer Certification Exam. The training will be held June 23 through 26. More information about the training is available by downloading the LabVIEW Summer Boot Camp
The CAEN computer lab in G.G. Brown 2505 has been reopened. This lab design and installation represents CAEN’s current vision about the future of lab-based computing for students.
