Changes to CAEN Windows remote desktop services on January 3, 2014

CAEN is announcing three important changes related to the CAEN Windows remote desktop service.

The CAEN Windows remote desktop service provided network access to the same Windows environment, including commercial engineering applications, that is available in CAEN’s student computing labs.

Changes to CAEN Linux Login Service on January 3, 2014

CAEN is announcing two important changes related to the CAEN Linux Login Service.

The Linux login service provided network access to the same Linux environment, including commercial engineering applications, that is available in CAEN’s student computing labs.

On January 3, 2014 CAEN will:

  • Remove several of the commercial engineering applications from login.engin.umich.edu (and vnc.engin.umich.edu)

New software must be installed in order to access Windows CLSE remotely

The method for remotely accessing the CAEN Lab Software Environment (CLSE) for Windows is changing. SolidWorks 2013 Student Edition available to College of Engineering students

CAEN has received a limited number of one-year licenses for the SolidWorks 2013 Student Edition. These licenses are only available for Microsoft Windows operating systems.
