Optimizing remote access connections to CAEN computers
When connecting to one of CAEN’s remote access services, such as the Windows Remote Desktop Service and the Linux Login Service, there are some simple steps you can take to improve your remote computing experience:
- Do not use the campus VPN service while connecting remotely. The VPN is not required to use these remote
CoE student supplemental printing allocation has now ended
The College of Engineering student supplemental printing allocation will no longer be offered starting in the Fall 2020 term. This change is the final step of a four-year plan to phase out the supplemental printing allocation. Students will continue to receive the standard U-M student ITS printing allocation of $24/term.
Classrooms available as reservable self-service studios for faculty
In response to the need for faculty to stream and record their lectures for students learning remotely during the pandemic, the College has designated several classrooms as reservable self-service studios. Instructors will be able to schedule these rooms to stream their lectures while also taking advantage of the built-in CAEN Lecture Capture service:

Mathematica licenses now available to all U-M students at no cost
With contributions from the College of Engineering, Information and Technology Services (ITS) has obtained a software license for Wolfram Mathematica that is available for all University of Michigan students to download to their personal computers at no cost.

SOLIDWORKS 2020-21 Student Edition now available to Michigan Engineering students
CAEN is pleased to announce that licenses for the 2020-2021 SOLIDWORKS Student Edition are now available to College of Engineering students. Students must be enrolled in U-M courses during the current term to be eligible for a license. These licenses are only available for Microsoft Windows operating systems, and will expire in July 2022.

Siemens NX Student Edition now available to all U-M students
Siemens has released a student edition version of its NX design, simulation, and manufacturing software. This edition of NX is free to download and use for all University of Michigan students.
