The upcoming redesign of Canvas Discussions & Announcements includes an updated user interface as well as several new Discussion features such as:
- anonymous discussions
- user mentions
- reply quoting
- reply edit history
- reply reporting
ITS Teaching & Learning announced the Canvas update will be implemented on May 6, 2024, however instructors can enable the new features now, if desired, by following these steps:
- Go to Settings in your course
- Click on the Feature Options tab at the top of the page
- Scroll down to find Discussions/Announcements Redesign and click on the red X in the circle in the State column
- Select Enabled to turn on the redesign for Announcements and Discussions in your course
