Python 2 end of support

CAEN has removed Python 2.7 on computers running the CAEN Lab Software Environment (CLSE). Python 2 scripts may no longer run due to the major changes inĀ  Python 3.

Refer to the article: How to port Python 2 Code to Python 3 for more information about migrating between the two versions.

The Python software foundation stopped supporting Python 2.7 in January 2020. CAEN computers in previous terms could still support legacy versions of Python 2 on some level despite this up until version 2.7.18-17. As of June 2024, however, our vendor Red Hat no longer supports the software and so neither can CAEN in the Linux environment. This may mean that Linux applications that depend on Python 2 may exhibit issues. Windows applications or scripts that use Python 2 will also not be able to be supported unless acquired from a vendor that has taken specific steps to do so.
