PLM software Teamcenter now available for use by student organizations

CAEN is pleased to announce the availability of a new product lifecycle management (PLM) service for registered College of Engineering (CoE) student organizations. PLM has been defined as “the process of managing the entire lifecycle of a product from inception, through engineering design and manufacture, to service and disposal of manufactured products. PLM integrates people, data, processes and business systems and provides a product information backbone for companies and their extended enterprise.” Practically speaking, it means that CoE student teams now have a central place to store part designs, make revisions, and manage who has access to them.

The leading PLM solution, Teamcenter by Siemens, has been provided to the College of Engineering through the PACE partnership. CAEN has implemented Teamcenter to work with the design software NX by Siemens, which is available on all computers running the CAEN Lab Software Environment (CLSE) for Windows, including many computers located in the Wilson Student Team Project Center.

This new service is intended for use at this time by registered College of Engineering student organizations whose projects focus on team-oriented design and communications. Additional teams outside of Wilson Center projects may be eligible for access, depending on the project specifications and licensing restrictions.

Any registered College of Engineering student organization which would like to request access to use PLM via Teamcenter to manage their project’s design lifecycle may do so by submitting a request via Contact CAEN or by emailing [email protected]. This request should include the name of the student organization (i.e. as listed in the Maize Pages), the name of the group’s faculty advisor, and the list of group member uniqnames who require access.

Detailed information about the Teamcenter product can be found on the Siemens website.
