The James and Anne Duderstadt Center (DC) offers a wide range of digital services that are especially helpful to students and faculty in various stages of the design cycle.
The DC’s Fabrication Underground is a comprehensive facility ready to help you transform ideas into physical reality. It houses multiple types of 3D printers, a laser cutter, a small CNC router, 3D scanners, dedicated computers and electronics workbenches. These resources support a variety of fabrication activities, from prototyping to complex project development, and they’re available to all UM students, faculty and staff regardless of school or college affiliation
Our Visualization Studio provides resources for 3D visualization, XR/VR/AR, and motion capture, supporting immersive content creation and innovative research. It serves as a collaborative environment for exploring emerging technologies and developing interactive experiences. If you need a high-powered machine that’s VR capable, the Viz Studio is waiting for you!
Finally, when it comes time to communicate your ideas to the world, the DC has tools for you. Our Personal Studio is an all-in-one, user-friendly video production space equipped with a teleprompter, backdrops, cameras, microphones and professional lighting. Its intuitive touchscreen interface allows users to capture, stream and edit videos in real-time, facilitating the creation of dynamic, publication-ready content.
