Accessibility Challenge: Learn digital accessibility basics in bite-sized bits, starting January 28

The University of Michigan is committed to ensuring that all of its digital content, including web pages, course content, and software, can be used by everyone who needs it. Recent updates to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) add urgency to that commitment, giving public universities until April 2026 to make all digital content accessible. It’s a big job, and each of us has a role to play.

Join the 10-Week Accessibility Challenge and learn to create more accessible and user-friendly digital content. Starting January 28 we’ll present a new challenge each week focused on a different aspect of digital accessibility. You’ll get tips, resources, and examples to help you complete the challenge and apply what you learn to your own projects. After completing all 10 challenges, you can showcase your commitment to digital accessibility and inclusion by adding our Accessibility Ally digital badge to your email signature. This winter, we’ll also offer optional live, synchronous sessions (details communicated to all participants after sign-up).

Looking for something a little shorter? You can learn how to make your documents, presentations, and courses more inclusive for students with disabilities by joining the Course Accessibility Challenge, which also starts January 28

  • Engage in three weekly challenges delivered to your inbox, focused on different aspects of digital course accessibility. Then, participate in a live synchronous session to connect with peers and expand your knowledge.
  • Gain insights through instructor-oriented tips, resources, and examples.
  • Apply what you learn to enhance your own courses’ inclusivity and usability.

No prior knowledge or experience in digital accessibility is necessary.
